7 Factors of Influence Women Leaders Should Master

There are several factors that can attribute to emerging as a leader. Here, we’ll detail out the seven factors highlighted in John Maxwell’s The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership.

1. Character – Who They Are
“True leadership always begins with the inner person.”3

The character of a leader will filter into the entire organization and its employees. Great character will create potential for a great organization. But, it all begins with the leader’s heart.

2. Relationships – Who They Know
“Build the right kinds of relationships with the right people, and you can become the real leader in an organization.”4

In your sphere of influence, you must develop deep, meaningful relationships that go beyond seeing someone daily because you simply work in the same office. Relationships grow loyalty, influence and ultimately the business.

3. Knowledge – What They Know
“Whenever I was new to an organization, I always spent a lot of...

4 Things To Do When Participating in Someone's Important Event

Promotions, Weddings, Funerals, Workshops, Book Festivals, high school and college graduation ceremonies,  and etc..,

When invited to participate in someone's important event you should consider four things;

(1) The host; the vision, intent, reputation and character;

(2) Time; what time does the program start, how much time is your portion of the event and how early should you arrive and depart;

(3) Understand why you were selected to participate and play that role expertly

(4) Professionalism; coordinate any presentation details ahead of time, rehearse, take care of transportation, lodging and meals and take care of anything that could serve as a distraction

New Book Announcement: Golom's Magical Gamers

2021 announcement books Jun 21, 2021

Ready to read an action and adventure children's book that focuses on teamwork and communication? Announcing the release of "Golom's Magical Gamers".  This book is written by Angela M. Odom and illustrated by Kavion Robinson.

WHAT IS THE BOOK ABOUT?

Ryan and his dearest cousins live in different states and don’t get to see one another often. There’s nothing he can do about it. One morning, his mother sends him to the basement to get some boring stuff adults need. She gives him a list so that he won’t forget what she needs. As Ryan is looking at this list, the weirdest thing happens. The words his mom wrote begin to rearrange themselves on the paper. It says, “Ryan, It’s Your Time to Know.”

“Uh, know what?” Ryan asks the paper but, it doesn’t respond. Ryan soon sees a map that takes him to the basement and beyond. Ryan follows that map and meets the God of Game, Golom. Since that conversation with Golom, Ryan’s...

4 points about validation leaders need to understand

2021 podcast Jun 08, 2021

When we are validated in a healthy way, we thrive in all areas of our life. However, when we are gaslighted or invalidated, our self concept is diminished greatly. In this episode of the Better U Leadership Podcast Angela shares 4 points about validation that leaders need to understand.

1. KNOW THE DEFINITION:

Validation means that we are acknowledging another person's emotions, thoughts, experiences, values, and beliefs. Validation isn't about agreeing, placating, “fixing” the other person, trying to get someone to change, or repeating back what the other person has said.

Emotional validation is the process of learning about, understanding, and expressing acceptance of another person's emotional experience. Emotional validation is distinguished from emotional invalidation, in which another person's emotional experiences are rejected, ignored, or judged.

2. KNOW THE IMPACT OF...

What's a Crucial Conversation?

2021 communication podcast May 25, 2021

Are you up for a summary of chapter 1 of the book, "Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When The Stakes are High"?  The title of the foundational chapter is "What's a Crucial Conversation?"

First, its a easy read for a topic we can't avoid. Effective leaders really must develop the skill of engaging in crucial conversations.

Relationships are the priority of life, and conversations help us care for our relationships with talking and listening. The quality of your life comes out of the quality of your dialogues and conversations. Crucial Conversations by Kerry Patterson, Joseph Grenny, Ron McMillan and Al Switzler — the founders of VitalSmarts — helps you think about what you really want to say.

What’s a Crucial Conversation?

A crucial conversation, as defined by the four authors, is a discussion between two or more people where stakes are high, opinions vary and emotions run strong.

The effects of conversations gone bad can be both...
